Mission Statement

Tanasi Máterá Indigenous Circle is dedicated to protecting and preserving the Native American burial sites of our ancestors and the Native American sacred sites that exist in Tennessee and should be recognized as historical landmarks. We do this by generating funds for litigation pertaining to the desecration of Native American graves and sacred sites and balancing the financial inequities that tend to exist between the parties concerning these grave desecration issues. We believe that education programs must serve to end the perpetual misinformation concerning Native American sacred sites, our cultures and beliefs; and the promotion of unity within the Native American community and those communities built around our sacred sites will gain support needed to accomplish our mission.

Our Vision

That the desecration of Native American burials and sacred sites will end and that the need for litigation will no longer exist to stop the destruction of our sacred places. We visualize the time when the culture and beliefs of all Native American people will be acknowledged and respected.

Biographical Information

Tanasi Máterá is a state chartered non-profit and a pending 501(3)(c) organization. Over the next three years, we have decided to focus our efforts on three areas of organizational competence: balancing financial inequities that tend to exist between parties concerning grave desecration issues through litigation and conducting educational seminars that will serve to end the perpetual misinformation concerning Native American cultures and beliefs, as well as promoting unity within the Native American community and the communities which are built around our sacred sites. As part of our protection and preservation efforts we will lend financial support to those involved in litigation pertaining to the desecration of Native American graves and sacred sites. We will educate non-Natives through organized seminars, cultural gatherings, videos and written literature..
