Most of the resources below are available to both Indians and non-Indians. Of those that are available only to Indians or minorities, some require membership in a federally recognized tribe, some do not. Most Bureau of Indian Affairs programs require the beneficiary to be a member of a federally recognized tribe.
So,
if you're Indian but not enrolled, and a program's eligibility criteria require
you to be Indian or a member of a minority but does not specify tribal
membership as a requirement, contact the agency or organization
that provides the assistance before you decide you're not eligible - you may be
surprised.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga offers a $5,000 scholarship to Native American students able to verify 1/16 Indian heritage. The scholarships are funded by the AL-TN Trail of Tears Corridor Association, Inc. 2 are available each year. March 1 is the deadline for applications for the fall semester. For information contact:
